About My Practice

My paintings begin with returning.

I revisited familiar landscapes over time, observing how they change through the shifting light, seasons and memory. I am interested in how the same trees in the same place can reveal something new.

I transform photographic studies into expressive paintings using oil sticks. The physicality of the medium allows each mark to retain a sense of movement, texture and immediacy.

My recent work explores a quieter, more restrained palette, focusing on the subtle shifts in colour, light and atmosphere that occur throughout the year. Rather than documenting a landscape exactly as it appears, I seek to capture the feeling of being present within it—the fleeting qualities of light, the rhythm of the trees and the changing character of a place over time.

Through layered surfaces and gestural mark-making, my paintings invite viewers to slow down and notice the richness of everyday surroundings. By returning to familiar landscapes with sustained attention, I hope to reveal moments of beauty that often go unnoticed, encouraging a deeper connection with the natural world.
